The German Baptist Dunkard Brethren in Virginia Township, in or near the town of New Virginia, was organized in 1870 with following members: Joseph SCHUTT, Sallie BLACK, John FIELD and wife, T. J. THOMAS and wife, Eliza KEFFER and William GOSSBECK. For fifteen years the society held its services in schoolhouses. In 1891 their own building was erected. Sadie GIBBONS was a pastor and Isaac THOMAS a leading member. After being unused for some time, the building was sold and torn down about 1914.
